I'm finally getting it together

Published

After jumping through a few hoops, I've got a plan to just go directly into an ADN program. It starts in January. In the meantime, since my CNA license (another state) expired some 5 years ago, I'm gonna enroll in EMT-Basic this Summer. Fall rolls around and I can wrap up A&P II and Micro. I want to work as an ED Tech in the Fall prior to nursing school.

Has anyone else taken a similar route? Any advice?

Good for you! Sounds like you worked out a feasible plan for yourself instead of whinnniiinnggg like so many people in this country do. All the best for you!!

I would only suggest a plan B and maybe a plan C. I'm not sure how easy or hard it would be to get hired on as an ED tech in your market.

This is my plan B. We all (I would reckon) want to dive right into nursing school. I have the unenviable position of no financial aid and recently terminated from a job. I need income but m taking the time off to be trained in another field. I have a position available as a B on a P2/B rig when done if I can't get on in an ED. A 24/72 schedule on a rig seems workable during nursing school, however.

I think my plan got a boost. I just got hired in a hospital as a Tech. So I can focus on school with an employer that offers tuition reimbursement and flexible scheduling.
