Hi nurses!
Im new to all nurses so forgive me if this is in the wrong category. Im a senior nursing student and i just have this fall semester and the spring. My depression is creeping back and what is NOT helping is my instructor who hates me. I mean really hates me. I don't need to get into that but I just need advice on how to stick it out until the end. Every day i just want to quit even though graduation is only a few months away. I know that taking a year off would just put off the inevitable...but I just dread going to clinical (med surg 3) because its not my scene and i do not feel comfortable there. Part of that is due to my instructor singling me out and demeaning me. I get home from clinical at 2 om and nap until 8pm. I'm on zoloft, wellbutrin, and klonapin. They only help so much. Please help me how to keep myself sane and push through this.
thank you (:

Hey there. My heart goes out to you. I am not suffering from depression, therefore, it will be difficult for me to understand what you are going through. I know for certain that it is extremely tough for you. I hope I can only provide some encouragement for you to push through all this.
It might sound cliche, but push through and try to turn her/his criticism into lessons or motivation for improvement. Focus on learning, passing the clinical, your fellow nurses, and your patients. As a future nurse, it's what we all have to go through, dealing with tough, annoying, and unreasonable people.
Sorry I know it sounds cliche. Reach out to your friends/family or even the nurses on your floor. You don't need that many people, all you need is that one person. Hopefully, it will be better for you. Be hopeful and may the force be with you.

I've experienced serious depression during school, so I know how hard it can be to keep motivated when it feels like the whole thing is falling apart/pointless.
If you feel like your meds aren't working, you should definitely talk to your provider...it may be time to switch things up or explore other options.
You should also look into what counseling services your school offers. Sometimes it helps to talk things through with a neutral party. A healthy diet and exercise (if you can muster the energy) could also help, even if it's just to run off the frustrations of the day.
Keep pushing through, it will all be worth it in the end.
