ILLINOIS - CHICAGO - applying for jobs before exam

I will be finishing my course and clinicals soon but will not be able to take the certification exam for over a month after I complete the course. I've heard many nursing homes will still hire you as long as you've passed the course and clinicals and are scheduled to sit for the certification exam. Is this true? Do you know of any nursing homes in Chicago which do this? Do you have any recommendations for good places to work on the City North or City Northwest side? Thanks :)

Im in the same boat as you Ive had my cert for about a month now and my test isnt until the 10th. Alot of places want you to already have your cert but Im sure you can find at least one LTC that will hire you on the condition that you get your cert within 4 months of being hired. Good luck :)

Lydiahope, there are schools all over Chicago including the community colleges. Then ask your clinical site if they will hire you when you complete the course. Most of them will hire you after successful class completion even though you haven't completed your taken your certification exam. If you need a job ASAP, then be sure you have perfect attendance at class and clinicals--no showing up late and no leaving early. Any class time missed will have to be made up which could take a few months based on how often the class is presented at your school.

Thanks everyone :)
