her father is around but he is not reliable enough to depend on. the only people i have the help is my aunt who lives far from me. i am thinking of waiting until she is old enough for preschool then going back to finish my pre reqs. And I agree the study groups werent very helpful looking back.

failed chemistry this semester. pretty depressed and thinking of giving up!!
I took Anatomy and Chem100 together this semester (BIG mistake) while juggling taking care of my 8 month old baby as a single parent. it was just too much for me. I struggled the whole semester even though I tried so hard. I joined study groups with classmates and tried as much as possible to study but it was just ALOT of material and I couldnt handle it all. I got a 63 in Chem and Ill probably get a C in anatomy if I dont bomb the final. Im just so discouraged and wanting to give up and change my major because I cant handle it. I would love to be a nurse but being a single mom I dont have the time or energy to focus on school right now. Maybe I will go back when she is a bit older but for now im not able to give school the attention it needs and nursing school applicationts are so competitive.

Announce that you passed your CNA exam here!
I just took my exam this morning and I passed! I got super lucky and had some easy ones I had handwashing, measuring urinary output, foot washing, PPE, and ambulating with a gait belt. I was soooo nervous and I forgot some small things like forgetting to ask the residents name, leaving the call light, supporting the foot and she had me redo a skill. As soon as I told her I was done with my last skill the timer went off. I even had to redo a skill I was sooo sure I failed after my partner told me and when I got my results I screamed so loud I cant wait to start my first nursing home job! I loved clinicals

Death stories?
My father had really bad pancreatic cancer. He was in pain for a year and nobody knew why until the cut him open for surgery and found cancer. They told us it was too much and too late there was nothing that they could do. He was so adamant about fighting the cancer. He used to always say Im going to beat this. He got very close to God on his deathbead and read the bible often. During his last few days he was slipping in and out of sanity. I remember him talking to God as if God were in the room I thought he was high on meds but now I know better! He was asking God to bless us and watch over us. Now I know God had come for him and promised him we would be ok thats what gave my dad the peace to leave us as he was VERY protective over us kids. He gave us final words of advice which I hate myself for not remembering because I chalked it up to this meds once again. He told us he loved us I do remember that much. That night he went back to the hospital because he was detriorating. He had a seizure in the ambulance and when we saw him in the ICU he had tubes down his chest and he was literally FIGHTING for his life. He was squirming and squeezing onto these things I cant remember really hard. He was not going down without a fight. A few hours later he went into renal failure and at that point we decided to let him go. We all got together and prayed over him, said our goodbyes. I went out of the room after I said goodbye and waited for everyone to finish so we could let the nurse know we were ready to let him go. As soon as my grandmother-his mother kissed him on the forehead the lines went flat. Everyone thought she had stepped on a chord or something because it happened so suddenly. But nope, he was just waiting for everyone to say goodbye.

ILLINOIS - CHICAGO - applying for jobs before exam
Im in the same boat as you Ive had my cert for about a month now and my test isnt until the 10th. Alot of places want you to already have your cert but Im sure you can find at least one LTC that will hire you on the condition that you get your cert within 4 months of being hired. Good luck :)

PREGNANT
You can totally take the class while you're preggo! There was a girl in my class that we all thought was going to go into labor during clinicals she was so huge! Sometimes we even got let out a few minutes early because she started complaining about her back The instructors were very mindful and accommodating they put her on a hall where there wasnt much lifting required and the patients could do alot for themselves. :)

Passed my state exams!
I like your idea about randomly pulling skills out of a basket. Im going to try that! My test is on April 9th and Im a little rusty since the class has been over for about a month now. My biggest fear is forgetting some simple task like letting the rails down or not finishing in time :smackingf
