I sent in my app for endorsement 3 weeks ago. I call everyday and they keep telling me that it takes 3 weeks before i am even put in the "system". I find that hard to believe because other girls in my class have submitted the same endorsement app and they tell me they got their permits within 2 weeks! I am a new nurse and I only have a license in one other state (indiana). I am so fustrated because I have 3 jobs that are waiting for me to get that number. For all you guys out there, how long did it take you? BTW...I am an LPN, i don't know if the BON has a different process for LPN's or not......:trout:

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with IDFPR.
Like you, I also applied for licensure by endorsement, but as a nurse. IDFPR received my application on May 11, 2007 and I was issued a license on May 30, 2007.
I hope you get yours soon.

I'm trying to figure out endorsement for Illinois too. I printed out the packet (30 pages). Do you really have to send a form to where you tested for NCLEX? It was a year ago I hardly remember! And then to the college for transcripts? or am I doing something totally wrong?

Yes, you will need to send transcripts to ILBON. My license took a long time to get, but it turns out my social security number was entered incorrectly...on 3 different forms, 3 different numbers, so they claimed they never received all my paperwork. Top it off, they made me fill out paper work for a name change, since once they enter the social security number, it can not be changed without a lot of paper work. Even if the number was entered incorrectly! I am guessing the 4th of July slowed them down, since they were not open then. I would give it a few more weeks.

hi,
i would like to endorse my RN license from WI to IL. im trying to figure out the whole process, and i've tried calling the number for assistance on the the application but it's always busy! i have a few questions, if anyone could help that would be really appreciated!
1. do you have to take the IL test (continental test services?) to endorse to an IL license?
2. can i still keep my WI license after i get the IL license?
3. how does the whole fingerprint/background check work?
4. if anyone knows by any chance... i am not a US citizen but i did graduate from a Nusing school in WI, do i have to submit a CES from CGFNS?
Thanks!
You do not have to retake the test.. if you took it already that is. yes the number is ALWAYS busy. Illinois recently combined 4 departments into one so there is now one phone number. Just keep calling and then you'll get music and the "please continue to hold". I did this and after about 25 minutes they will answer and you can ask them your other questions. For fingerprinting, you can either go to a place in Illinois to do it or you can have them send you a card and you just go to the local police department to get fingerprinted then you send it in to the FBI (I sent mine via Identix in Springfield, IL (on wabash ave.).) I just sent it there from MD and they processed it for a fee of $54.
As for keeping the WI license, you probably can. I don't know if they have a requirement as to if you have to work a certain number of hours in that state to keep the license active or not.
anyways, hope I provided some help! Good Luck
