Hello,
I'm a relatively new home care nurse and am looking to become a wound care nurse some time down the road. I don't think I want to commit to a 2 years Masters in Wound Healing just yet, but the 9-12 month IIWCC at UofT does sound intriguing.
I was wondering if anyone has taken the IIWCC-CAN at UofT and don't mind sharing their experience on it. If one only has the IIWCC, can the nurse already work as a wound care nurse specialist?
Is the program worth it or would you recommend that I do the CAET programs.
Thank you.

Both IIWCC and CAET require a great deal of independent studies. The IIWCC requires a great deal of time and dedication to go through large amounts of scholarly research materials and to critique it. It takes on a multidisciplinary approach so the students can encompass nurses, physicians, OT, PT, Dieticians. I've had mainly nurses and physicians as classmates. It is not as hands on as the CAET program which requires you to complete clinical placements. The CAET provides you with the opportunity to write the CNA exam to become a certified ET nurse where as the IIWCC will not.
Thank you so much for this information. Do you currently work as a wound care nurse? I'm wondering whether it's difficult to get into the CAET program?
