ielts first or nclex? what's the first exam to take?

hi there!

Im just confused if what exam to take...

is it ielts or nclex?

is ielts a requirement to take ncleX?

got no idea...

hope you could help me with this...

thanks.

planning to take both exams just confused on what to prioritize...

I assume you are an IEN. Review the requirements for nursing license by examination as an IEN for the state BoN. Generally IELTS/demonstration of English language proficiency is necessary before a BoN will authorize you to take the NCLEX (in addition to assuring your nursing education and credentials are deemed equivalent to US/State requirements).

Lack of English language proficiency and comprehension is one of the top explanations for the less than 30% pass rate for IENs attempting the NCLEX first time. Cultural and educational differences are others. It's thought some countries test strictly on skills and content (essentially memorization of facts and concepts) where US & Canada test critical thinking and practical application of core nursing content knowledge.
