Hello,
I am a new instructor and I am struggling to come up with ideas for post conference for our nursing students. Any ideas?!?!

I've been teaching psych clinicals for ages. Here are some things I do:
1) have them draw pens blindly out of a bag (psych med pens) and do med reports on the pens they draw
2) post a question on the board one day, to be answered the next, for a prize (they turn in the answers in written form and the prizewinner is drawn from all those with a correct answer--and the answers are reviewed in post conference)
3) of course, the ever-popular review of the day with suggestions for improvement
4) discuss cultural implications of care

Have one of your sudents present a little bit about one of their interesting cases. (Pick a patient who is a good example of his diagnositc type) Then discuss with the group the characteristics of that diagnostic catagory and how this client does or does not display those characteristics. What interventions work or are unlikely to work with such clients. etc

Run through a Mini Mental Status Exam on each other, while you whisper hallucinatory statements through a tube of paper in one ear. A taste of schizophrenic reality.
