ICU position in Los Angeles

Published

Hi,

I'm a RN and have been working in ER for about 3 years. I also worked in telemetry for 2 years. However, I found it rather difficult to find a ICU position in metropolitan LA area!! I've applied to several hospital but so far only heard from one back. I know one of the problem is my preference for day-shift only. But is the ICU position so rare in LA? The reason why I want to go to ICU is because I want to apply for CRNA degree. I applied for 2 CA schools for fall 2009 that would also consider ER experience, and of course, didn't hear anything from them (sign..) Can anyone kindly advice how and where I can find ICU positions? Thanks a lot

In my hospital you have to rotate days/nights for usually 5-7 years before a straight dayshift becomes available.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder if it's normal for the days/nights rotation for inexperienced ICU nurse?
