Hey Everyone-

Not trying to rip off someone else's thread, I'll start my own..

I always hear people talking about the fresh grad ICU programs around. My question is this... Can anyone (or a few of you) post at least areas or large cities where this is happening? I just don't know where to start, as far as looking in any direction.

Also, How common is it to find a facility that will provide tuition for CRNA school? Is it more common to find a tuition reimbursement program in a CRNA's benefits package once done with school? Either way, how common is it for CRNA's to get some tuition money.

Dear NurseNut,

Several Atlanta area hospitals have new-grad ICU opportunities. Many of them have 4-6 month orientations with 1-2 year contracts of service for the time they spend orienting you.

Regarding tuition reimbursement: all of the hospitals I have worked for have had some form of tuition reimbursement as a benefit for working employees who are seeking to advance their career. I would imagine that CRNA school would be considered for this benefit. However, this reimbursement would probably be a partial reimbursement that may not cover much of your actual expenses to attend CRNA school.

That being said, Atlanta may not be the best city of choice for your plans - there is no CRNA program within 100 miles of the city. There is, however, a PA anesthesia program offered at Emory University.

I hope this helps, and good luck as you seek to make plans.

hello,

many places take new graduates in the ICU. you may even be able to find get them to "forgive" (ie: pay) some of your loans for a work pay back period. from what i have experienced, education reimbursement often is only while you are employed... which is difficult if not impossible during CRNA school.
