This might be kind of long so please bare with me. To make a long story short, when I went to a tech school when I was younger I was not in the right place in my life to start school. I had to support myself and work full time, even then if something came up and I needed money unfortunately my school was the first thing to go. Within my first year I missed a lot of classes, I kept getting sick and my car kept breaking down. Back then my school didn't have an online drop option, you had to go to the professor and have them sign a paper stating they will allow you to drop their class, and since I couldn't get to the school it was very hard to drop my classes before they automatically failed me( you can only miss 5 classes). Anyway, my GPA suffered ALOT! Now that I am older and have a family I am going back to school and I have the support system and the stability to do this properly. I am just really worried that no matter how hard I work it just won't be enough. I am going to a different school, so I know the institutional GPA will be different. I just don't know how much my previous school gpa will affect my new school gpa. Also, at my school they mark off points for each time you re-attempt a class, this puts me at about 5-6 re-attempts in different classes. I don't want to "waste my time" if there just isn't a chance for me to get in anywhere. I have contacted my adviser and hope to talk to her in the next couple of days, but I need some advice from others that might know the system better than I do and maybe someone has been in this situation that can help me out. I really have my heart set on nursing, but if it's not possible I need to know now so I can figure out something else.

Call your college and see if they have options for you called fresh start. My college has this. If you come back after a 3 year gap they will wipe those grades out of your GPA, they will still be on your transcript though, just not count in your GPA. I know my college also looks at how you have grown. Like if you are a student that did poorly but show improvement in your grades they get impressed. Your best bet is to call your school and speak to an advisor. Good luck :)
Well this is a new school all together. I just read on their website that if you transfer from another school you start out fresh gpa wise. This makes me feel a lot better, now I'm just worried about the classes I have attempted in the past.
