I want to work from home, perhaps telephone triage

Hi, RNwithhope,

This is my very first post anywhere! I'm so glad to have read yours. I am in the same boat also looking to work from home. I am thinking of medical transcription for myself.

I was in a serious MVA in 1999 and have not worked since. I suffer from post traumatic stress syndrome and have too much anxiety to work in a structured setting.

One of the best online sources for employment anywhere is www.monster.com. I was amazed how many employers are using this site to place ads for all kinds of nursing positions.

Another avenue may be to check into HMO's who routinely need RN's for authorizations for surgery, hospital admissions etc. (I did that for a while in 1998, but it was an office position)

Hospice triage nurses work from home. They take the calls from the answering service & try to solve problems over the phone... if that's not possible, they dispatch a nurse to make a visit.

Not a bad job, if you don't mind calls at odd hours.

It looks like you live in Jersey, but maybe you can help me anyway. I live in Florida (Miami) and I'm looking for work from home and what you suggested sounds great. I already work for a hospice agency and they don't allow calls to be transferred to your home. If you know of something similar, I would really appreciate your advice.
