I so want to be a nurse.....but

Published

I have a degree in computer tech, and many years ago, I was told that the field would grow, grow, grow. Now, years later the tech jobs are flying out of the county, or being taken over by 20 year olds willing to work 70 to 80 hours a week. My problem, currently making $40,000, no more financial aid to receive, big mortgage, kid in college, yada yada yada. :uhoh3:

My problem: I would like to be a nurse, but cannot find a program being offered during the evenings and on weekends in FL

I've searched every where that I could possibly search, but to no avail. I can't afford to quit job to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse, but I am sooo unhappy with my career choice. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm in Florida and both community colleges in my area offer a day track and an evening/weekend track. Have you been trying the community colleges? What area of FL are you in?

I'm in Orlando. I just read that UCF has a 1 year program to get a BSN if you have a bachelor's in another area. Can you take out student loans? These loans are low interest and youdon't have to start paying them off until after yougraduate. Some employers will pay off nursing school loans for you if you agree to work for them for a certain time period. Also, what about working part-time and going to school part-time?

I would at least start taking any of the pre-reqs and coreqs that you are going to need. That will put you that much closer. Surely there will be night, weekend, or online courses that offer the coreq courses.

St. Petersburg College has an evening track for their RN program. Good luck.
