What studies as you looking at continuing? Be aware with retrogression you will find it hard to be able to work and if you go as a student you will have high fees plus a restriction on working

You have the option to apply for an F1 or student visa. What kind of nursing degree are you finishing up in Malaysia? I ask because this will determine what options you have. If you are graduating from a US equivalent of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, then, you may be able to apply to graduate school programs offering a Master's or Doctoral degree. You'll have to figure out what career path you would like to pursue since graduate school programs for nursing in the US are specialty-based. Programs that include clinical practica require students to have a license as a Registered Nurse in the state where the program is located. Is this something you've thought about? Once you've figured this out, the next step is to apply to a university who should be able to assist you in part of the steps in this process.
You will be required to appear for a consular interview and present necessary documentation. There are specific forms with corresponding fees that need to be filled out and submitted to the immigrattion service prior to the interview. Part of this documentation should be done by the school you will be attending. During the interview, be prepared to present your passport, college transcript, professional registration as a nurse, proof of passing required English examination, and most importantly, financial evidence that you have enough funds to support the full cost of your education, including tuition, books, materials, and living expenses for the entire duration of your course of study.
You may be authorized to receive an OPT or Optional Practical Testing which will allow you to work temporarily before or after you complete your studies. However, you will be required to obtain a license as an RN in the US in order to work in a clinical nursing role. Do you plan to go back to Malaysia or stay in the US after you graduate? Long-term visa options after you graduate aren't favorable at the current time. Immigrant visas are currently retrogressed and you wouldn't be able to stay in the US while processing this visa as the wait has gone terribly long. H1B Visas are available as an option and you may meet the requirements of this visa depending on the kind of job offer you get after graduation.
