I want to become a LPN

Make sure of what LPN's in your state make. I know every state varies and at least in Florida scrub techs are known to make more than LPN's.

I live in Kansas/Missouri and LPN's here make between $18-$22/hour. Have you thought about taking a nursing assistant course? I took a 2 week nursing assistant course and worked my way through nursing school being a nurses aide. Being a nursing assistant would give you a better income and also give you experience in healthcare. Then when your child is old enough for day care or preschool, you can look into going to nursing school FT.

That's a good option too. I worked as a CNA while in school for Surgical Technology and now I'm an OB Scrub Tech hoping to get started with NS really soon. I work PT nightshift so that really helps too.

I'm 21 years old with a beautiful 4 month old baby, I would like to go back to college to become a LPN and after that RN. I want a better future for me and my bb. My problem is that I have to work, at least 35 hours a week and I have to pay babysitter I don't have family near me to help me with my bb and the only school for lpn and rn near my house is a community college 1 hour distance and classes are in the morning and during the week.By the way I live in Ma. I want to do something with my life, go to school, get a good job. Please somebody help me because I don't know what to do. I know there are a lot of careers but I don't want to spend 2 or 4 years studying to get pay at $10 an hour.

LPN to RN is a great route. Remember that LPN is only a stepping stone not an only option. In Michigan LPNs make at $20 an hour or more depending on how many years of experience you have. Look it up in MA. But I'm sure once you finish and become an RN, the pay scale will definitely change for you. As far as time scheduling, you have come up with what works best for you and your family, even if it means relocating to be closer to family so that they can care for your child while you go to school. There is nothing wrong with wanting more for yourself!

As stated above, you may want to check into CNA,in which you would then have 3 shifts and many work options to choose from. I can relate to the family situtation. Getting closer to family might not be a bad option, if it would allow you the help needed to get where your trying to go.

It's great that you have the desire to better yourself! One things I can stress from experience, you have to start from somewhere, and don't allow people and circumstance to determine your destiny!

I forgot to say that I don't have family in this country, so even I have some close friends I'll still have to pay.....my mom told me to send her my bb so I can go to school, but I don't want to be away from her she's so little.

I understand you not wanting to send the baby being so young but realistically it's better while she's young. She will adapt to anything or one at this age, and when you get her back it will be easier for her to adapt. Again, the other option would be to wait until she's able to go to daycare. With this option you would have to pay for daycare and won't be able to totally focus on school.

Can't tell you what to do,only you know what's best for you. But, I will tell you to weigh all your options, don't be afraid to ask trusted fam or friend for help, and never give up on your dream!
