So I think I need some insight, opinions, advice, something... maybe even just someone to say suck it up and do whats going to work for you. I don't know. I know what I "need" to do I guess I just need to talk about it. I currently work as a Medical Assistant 3 days a week in a town about 25 minutes from my house (only 12 miles but it is all backroads). It pays average for an un-certified medical assistant I suppose, it is $12/Hour. And I live at home so I don't pay rent. But I definately have credit cards I have to pay off, a car loan I pay monthly, a phone bill each month, gas expenses, etc etc. I start NS in almost exactly a year, and I want to pay off my car ($6,500 left) and my 2 credit cards before that point. I want to be as comfortable as possible when the time comes.

Well this doctor that I work for runs her own practice. It is small. It is just her and I, the other MA, a medical biller and a receptionist. I have only been working here for about a month and a half. The doctor asked me at the time of the interview if I was ok with working part-time, she checked with me several times and I kept saying yes because I figured I would just find a 2nd part-time job to fill in. Well, almost 2 months later and I can't find a 2nd job and am barely BARELY paying bills. I can't just ask for more hours because the Dr. only works on the days I am there, she doesnt work the other days so there is nothing for me to do.

I guess I just feel horrible because I haven't been there long and I said it was ok that it was only part-time. I don't want her or anyone at the practice to think this is personal... especially the Dr. I feel extremely guilty and I'm a little afraid they are all going to hate me if/when I put in my two weeks and those last 6 days are going to be hell. My dad and step-mom are really pressuring me to quit and find a full-time job at a hospital, clinic, etc. I have been applying for jobs at hospitals but until this morning I was applying for per-diem. Should I just apply for full-time jobs until I land one and then put in 2 weeks at my current job?

I have always been the one that was more worried about what others were going to say/do/think of me when I put in notice that I'm leaving and not enough about how I feel and what is best for me. I know this but I just feel so horrible. :/

It feels so much better to get it out. Any advice would really be appreciated, I don't even know where to start with this mess.

In today's economy, I definitely would not give notice until I had another job. Don't feel bad, you have to do what is best for you. Employers are always going to do what is best for them.

You might check into daycare. They typically don't pay well, but you might be able to get hours that would work around your current job and then you wouldn't have to feel bad. I would also check out some of Dave Ramsey's (sp?) books/information. He is really great at helping people get out of debt.

GREAT NEWS!!!!! Thankyou everyone for talking to me, I really love coming on here for help, advice, and people to talk to. You are all great. :)

I have a profile on a babysitting/nanny networking site called SitterCity. I have a background check completed the parents can look at and everything. Well I just got a response from a parent that needs a nanny for a 7 year old girl on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and once in awhile a weekend evening so the parents can go on a date. I would take the girl to school, and do her laundry and things while shes in school and maybe run some errands. Then pick her up, help with homework, etc. The parents said they normally pay $15/hour for babysitters but would pay $18-20/Hour for the nanny position because of the driving and such. I AM STOKED!!!!!! That worked out perfectly, I really hope it follows through. We are setting up a time to meet as I type. Yayyy!!!!! :)

Your suggestion was perfect! I got on my profile for SitterCity, and someone had written me for a nanny job on the days I'm not working!! The days I have off are the exact days they needed someone, it worked out PERFECT! And I am definately going to look into those books, maybe I'll pick up some more from the library, I have 5 checked out and 5 being borrowed by my library from the NYC library for me xD haha I love my books. :D

That is so awesome...congratulations!
