I have a question about becoming a ob nurse

i was just wondering if anyone could answer my question.are there any classes out there pointed directly toward becoming a ob nurse or do you just have to the classes that are pointed to becoming a nurse in general?

In my program we four weeks of mother baby and four weeks of peds and as far as I know a lot of programs are like that ADN or BSN. The rest of the classes are aimed at being a nurse "in general"....we had oncology, cardiac, neuro, psych etc. all of which are important when taking care of women because there may be coexisting conditions and you need to be monitoring mom for complications and that info comes from these other classes meaning your assessment skills, changes in LOC, bleeding, HTN, etc. so they all relate even if it doesn't seem like it while your in them...I want to be a NICU nurse or possibly L&D and while going through all of these other classes I would always be looking at the information and be translating it to what I want to specialize in....i.e. stroke,PE etc. in the later stages of pregnancy women can clot putting them at risk for these other conditions so I need to be well versed in s/s and interventions etc. So it's all important. And made those classes more tolerable for me:)
