I have a question about A&P2

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Where I go to school at a&p2 is a pre req for the rn program and so is microbiology. I've taken both of them and have failed both. I've been thinking about just going for the lpn program. And have considered retaking just a&p2. But I was just wondering if any of you think that a&p2 is needed for the lpn program?

This what I think..

If it is not a requirement, then dont take it. The only downfall for you, is that your GPA may not be that good since you have failed 2 classes already.

Good luck!!

On the bright side...since you've already seen the material, taking those classes a second time may come a little easier for you since you know ahead of time what to expect and what you should spend more time studying on. When I took them, I studied sooooo hard but more often than not, the stuff I spent the most time on wasn't even on the test.

You have an advantage going in because you've already taken them. Don't let the fear of a couple classes be the reason you don't go for RN. If what you really want is to be an RN, then jump in with both feet and go get it. Nothing at all wrong with LPN if that's what you want to do though. Good luck to you!

Your GPA is important, but after you get out of school and are working then the important thing is that you know what you are doing to save a life. If your goal is RN then do not settle! Take them again and get a tuter. You will do great this time!

Not sure how old you are, but IF you are just out of high school even a few years, remember that A&P 2 is very hard as is Micro. As you mature you look at things differently and may have an easier time. And like said above you have seen the material before! Great luck to you!

I loved AP2 more than AP1, if anything I say I greatly benefitted from that class. I'd take it over again just to get the basica knowledge, but if can get in on your GPA without having to retake it, then yes you may want to skip it.
