Hi Everyone! I found out today that I passed Nclex-RN. I AM OFFICIALLY AN RN! My dream and wish has finally come true. AHH, words can't explain how happy I am right now! THE WAR IS FINALLY OVER! I am going to share my experience and tips with you all. I hope it will help you.
Tip 1: ARRIVE 1 HOUR EARLY!
My exam was scheduled at 2:00 pm.
I arrived at my testing center†at 1:20 pm.
Then, I realized I went to the wrong place! I was like OH MY GOOODNESSS!!!!!!!
I got lost!
I reroute the place on google map and the right testing place was 20 minutes away from where I stand.
I RAN 20 minutes of my life to get to the right building!
Let me tell you, I was RUNNING FOR MY LIFE!
I was crying while running.
I was getting all hot, sweaty and my eyes were burning!
I didn't care if the traffic light was green or if people looked at me funny.
I just need to take Nclex and claim my victory! I just need to make my dream happen.
AHH, the things we do for Nursing.
I arrived at the testing center at around 1:50pm and I was able to take it! YAY.
So please know where your testing place is located and arrive early!
I don't want this happening to you.
Tip 2: Eat a good nutritious meal before the exam.
Bring some snacks to munch on and take breaks during the exam!
I got really hungry during the exam and needed to eat to recharge!
You need energy!
If you feel mentally drained, take a break and wash your face!
Deep breaths and get the oxygen flowing! Your brain needs it!
Tip 3: TAKE YOUR TIME WHILE TAKING YOUR EXAM!
Give everything you got on every single question.
If you do not know the topic, look at the answer choice and see which one you can eliminate. Always ask yourself If I could do ONLY ONE thing to save this patient, which one would it to be?â€
As you can see, I really took my time………
Computer shut me off at 75 Questions.
It took me about 4 hours and 30 minutes to answer those 75 Questions.
I know, it was so long. I just took a risk and prayed it will shut off at 75!
I WAS SMILING WHEN THE SCREENED TURNED BLUE AT 75. But, just do not rush on every questions.
I made sure I read every questions and chose the best answer carefully without overthinking and assuming.
I did not know some of the topics so I was really using Nclex critical thinking strategies.
Think like a safe Nurse!
I only used the information that was given to me.
I was just talking to myself throughout the exam.
Tip 4: For me, Nursing school exams is way HARDER than Nclex!
These are my reviewer: Hurst, Kaplan, and 100% Uworld.
UWORLD IS MY BABE!!!!
I also used ATI Comprehensive Nclex RN Review book for content.
I recommend you reading that whole book because it is VERY helpful!
The more content you know, the better! Make sure you know risk factors for diseases also.
Tip 5: MAKE A STUDY DAILY SCHEDULE AND FOLLOW IT!
I made a routine schedule and made sure I followed it.
It helped me feel less overwhelmed because I knew what I should be doing at a certain time. It was less stress for me.
Tip 6: This is my studying habit.
For 1 month, I listened to HURST videos and read the ATI Book.
For the 2nd-3rd month, I answered Uworld and Kaplan Questions.
About 150 questions/day.
Sometimes, I only answer 75Q/day when I feel really tired.
75 from Kaplan and 75 from Uworld.
Treat each practice exam like you're taking the real Nclex.
It will help you prepare mentally and emotionally.
It will help you lessen your anxiety! You need to prepare how to lessen your anxiety.
BE CONFIDENT!
If you get a low score, please do not be discouraged.
What matters most is you read and understand every rationale whether it is right or wrong.
Tip 7: On the day of the exam,
GIVE EVERYTHING YOU GOT! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! You can do it!
OWN IT! Go in there and kill that beast!
Smile if you get SATA! Smile if you get Priority Questions! SMILE if you get HARDER questions! It means, you are doing well! If you feel like you are getting a recall, make sure you get it right and KEEP GOING!!!!!!! YOU GOT THIS! The computer is helping you to pass! Just GO GO GO!
Tip 8: HAVE FUN STUDYING! Make it fun! Treat yourself sometimes. Eat good foods and don't forget to relax also. : )
I had about 7-8 SATA! A few Priority questions, Follow Up questions, and a lot of teaching. I had like 3 medications, 1 med-calculation, and a few diagnostic tests questions!
I also felt like I got a few recall Qs.
Please do not ever give up! It is okay to cry. It is okay to feel like crap. It is okay. Just cry it all out and scream your lungs out! Just step up, find yourself again and fight harder! Give everything you got and believe in yourself! Stay Strong! Don't ever quit! You will be an amazing Nurse!
Thank you SO much! This group rocks!
TODAY IS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE! AAAH, I feel like dancing!
