I wanted to share my difficult journey of passing ANCC/AANP-Adult Geri Primary care board. I failed the first time with ANCC and AANP. The first time I took ANCC after studying for a month, thinking back, I wasn't ready! After another month of nonstop studying, I failed AANP because I was TOO NERVOUS!! If you are not a good test taker or if you have major test anxiety, I want to help you to pass and this is what I did.

1. I did Barkley's live course, it was a good foundation to start but I'm not convinced that you do not need to do any test questions. Try to understand every detail in this book.

He is entertaining and the information is simple to understand but you do need to do a little bit more research on some of the topic because it's a little too basic but a good foundation.

2. If you are planning to take AANP, APEA question and Fitzgerald's Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination and Practice Preparation 3rd ed, which was very similar.

3. I also did ANCC's 200 questions, which was similar to ANCC questions.

4. The new ANCC AGPCNP has pictures, so be prepared, this you have to do research on your own! Ex: Eyes and ears conditions, which skin disorder would you prescribe antibiotic.

5. As for ANCC- I feel like it's really hard to study for, about 60% of my test is ethnics, research, communications, billing. Not a lot of review books help with the non clinical stuff except Brown/Dunlap: Chap 19

6. Last but not least, PRAY!! If you have test anxiety, make sure you really keep your anxiety at a manageable where you can think clearly during the exam. I was so nervous, even tho I was prepared...I panic during the exam where I couldn't think at all. If you have failed the 1st time, I understand that feel of "what if I never pass"! I asked everyone to pray for me, and just remember that God never gives you anything that you can't handle, but things happen on God's time, not ours!! He sees the bigger picture! Don't loose faith, be prepared and calm going into the exam!!
