I need Unitek LVN and ADN Program Details

Published

After spending 5 semesters doing prereqs and GE classes I've decided to go to Unitek for the 2 step ADN program. I have 3 kids and I'm 29, I can't wait years to get into a CC RN program. I'm willing to take up the debt to finish fast. I know the LVN and LVN to RN programs are extremely accelerated and I'm ready to take that on but I wanted to know more about the program. For any current or previous students: What is the schedule like? On the website it says theory classes are from 8am-4pm AND THEN clinicals? How many hours of clinicals are required per week? I've read on another blog that you have to expect to study 3-5 horus EVERY night. Is this realistic? What does a typical day in the program consist of? I'm just trying to prepare myself mentally.

Unitek not for me! I went there today around 4pm to talk to a representative. I just walked in, and they took me in. Here's the breakdown I got from the representative.

LVN to RN program- If you wanna be eligible for this program, then you already have to be an LVN to go for the RN program.

Cost- $34000 LVN Program 11 months

Cost- $35000 RN program 8 months

Total cost to become an RN- $70000

Financial Available, and it covers roughly half or even less than half of the total amount to become an RN!

If you have strong family support and are willing to borrow money from loans or from salle mae, then you should be okay with this school. Again I don't anything about their teaching or circullum, because I haven't or will not start with this school, because they don't provide you extra financial support if you are not working while attending their facility. It seems to me that after they looked at my pre-reqs they told that after you take the entrance test, and attend our 3 week boot camp and pass it with a 75% or higher you start the core program.

by the way the three week boot camp is $3150 plus $150 for non-refundable processing fee, which you don't get back if you pass or fail the boot camp.

Also the program is VERY ACCELERATED so you do have to put in minimum of 4 hours every night to study or you will fail, that's what the representative told me. And, it's the whole day from 8-4 from Monday-Friday.

Good Luck,

I have a friend at Unitek right now...I also have 3 kids...I am trying to get all the info...she said class is twice a week, clinicals the other 3 days...

I attended the LVN program there

Is it worth the money though? I was doing some research and that seems to be the most accerlerated program for LVN-RN. Is there any other schools that you can complete in less than a year for LVN-RN? Does anyone know of anyone that graduated and passed there boards from there?

Are Unitek ADN graduates getting jobs? And if so where

Question... so when u first begin the Lvn program.. Is it only 8am to 4pm twice a week?? Or 5days a week??
