Ok, so you don't like taking care of newborns. What do you like? Start with that. Make a list of the types of patients that DO interest you. Then ask yourself, how does that same phenomenon play out in the newborn period of life? That will make the topic interesting to you -- and give you the boost you personally need to make it less boring for your audience.

For example, if you are interested in the cardiac patients ... focus your talk on the identificatificaication of heart defects in the newborn. That's a major part of newborn nursing.

If you are interested in diabetes ... talk about the implications of maternal diabetes for the newborn.

If you are interesed in trauma, talk about birth trauma: it happens. You could also talk about the effects of maternal trauma upon the fetus/newborn.

If you are interested in working with drug addicts, talk about newborns who are born addicted.

etc. etc. etc.

Newborns experience all the same health problems as big people in one way or the other. You can talk about whatever type of nursing or patient type that you prefer. Just focus on that topic during the newborn period.

there is no shortage of topics in the newborn. do as llg suggested. something that might be different is a newborn with a cleft pallet/lip, those can be challenging babies when it comes to feeding them.
