Hello everyone:wink2:,

I am interested in sitting for my RNC in Maternal/Newborn. I have no idea where to begin. I can't seem to find much study information. Does any agency offer a preparatory class? Can anyone recommend books to study or just plain give me some advice? I am determined. Was it hard? I don't know anyone with their RNC in Maternal/Newborn to ask questions about it. Anyone have ANY suggestions?

Thanks!

MandyPPRN, I would suggest going to the site for AWHONN's certification process. See:

http://www.nccnet.org/public/pages/index.cmf

After you are there, pick the "Information Requests" tab and you will have a document about some of the online education products that are designed to prepare you for the exam.

In the tab labeled "Content Validation Studies" you can download a PDF file of the outline to use to prepare for the certification exam you are interested in.

Hope this helps. . .I would also suggest joining AWHONN if you want additional resources. You can join at:

Thank you very much!

Mandy, PPRN, I just took a 2-day review course and two books they highly recommended were: 1) AWHONN Perinatal Nursing, Simpson and Creehan; 2) AWHONN Core Curriculum for Maternal-Newborn Nursing, Mattson & Smith. I will be taking my exam in July, and I have purchased both books. The Core Curriculum is the one I'm reveiwing from, it is in an outline format and easier to follow. Good luck! :yeah: :nurse:

Thank you so much! Who did you take the review course through?

I took the review course through one of our local hospitals. If you go to www.ccprnet.org, they have online practice tests you can purchase for the exam. Make sure to print the exam outline from www.nccnet.org, because my review course followed that to the tee. I am following that outline to study. :nuke:
