Matt - there is plenty of reference material on the internet that deals with liposuction. You can be very specific in your presentation with regard to liposuction as a procedure and then detail the remainder of your presentation with nursing considerations for the post-operative patient. Good luck on your presentation. :balloons:

Is there a more specifc question I can answer? I don't have the strength to type 10 minutes worth of presentation....................

I'll take a stab just for fun. I have never dealt with this issue in life or nursing.

Remember think outside the box. This is what critical thinking is. Think about what is happening in the body. Mass cellular distruction. What happens when you destroy massive amounts of cells in the body. (Sound maybe like something more familiar, maybe burns?) You release K and Mg What is the consequence of this? (cardiac, lyte imbalance, effect on kidneys)

Would you expect bleeding? Edema? think about the consequences. (decreased perfusion, pain, hematoma) What teaching would you do? Would you increase fluid intake, what about activity level?

Would you be concerned about peripheral pulses, Why? Would you be concerned about arrythmias, why? What about fluid volume?

Hope this helps sitimulate the thought process a little.

Post-op is the main point here. Lipo is just like any other surgery, except it is elective and outpatient. Search for post op general surgery, then tailor to your specific topic of liposuction post op.
