What is your BA in? You may have to take/re-take some science courses.

Hi there,

I too had a degree in another field and decided to go back to school to become a nurse. I was open to any of the programs (ADN @ community college, another BSN etc.) I started taking the pre-reqs and then found out about an entry level MSN program. They take people with Bachelors degrees in other fields and set them up for an eventual MSN in nursing (after you get your RN and work for one and a half years). I applied, got accepted and am in my second semester. They accepted my degree which is from 1992. Many of the pre-reqs have recency requirements (Many people had to re-take statistics for this program because it had to be within 7 years.)

I have a friend who has a degree in public health, but ended up going to LPN school a few years afterward. She is now an LPN who earns $20 hourly doing long term care at a nursing home. Also, she has recently applied to four RN programs. Many, but not all, RN programs have a 5 to 7 year limit on the math and science prerequisites. Other than that, they do not care about the age of your previous degree.
