I need an interesting learning activity when teaching my class about Alzheimer's...

In my chronic illness class, we each have to do a report on a chronic illness and for our final, we teach the class all about our illness and I have chosen Alzheimer's disease.

I am teaching the class next Tuesday and I am the first one to go in our class. I have my powerpoint presentation, case study, articles and a website that has an interactive tutorial of Alzheimer's and the brain (I have to teach the class for two and a half hours so I need a lot).

I would like to do some sort of teaching activity to do with the class that has to do with Alzheimer's or memory, but nothing too silly or childish. Anyone have any good ideas?

how about a jeopardy-style game at the end of class for a quick review/reinforcement of material. categories might include: pathophysiology, theraputic mangement, medications, nursing diagnoses, safety, client/caregiver education.

for example under pathophys: last 2 to 12 years and memory impairment is more evident. what is the middle stage? medications: these are avoided because of high anticholinergic activity. what are antihsitamines and tricyclic antidepressants?

could be a good way to wrap things up when everyone's interest is waning. good luck.

Jeopardy never works, at least for me it doesn't. How many people are you teaching? Can you do a small group activity or is it something large?

One interesting thing I've done when recieving alzheimer's training is they handed out cotton balls to stick in our ears, corn to stick in our shoes, plastic wrap to cover our eyes and gave us an activity to do such as gluing white cotton balls to a white paper plate or trying to do an exercise video. It just allowed us to kind of have the perception of an older adult.
