May I suggest taking a Kaplan Nclex review course? I took it the review course. It helped me focus my studying based on where i was weak . Every quiz, practice exam, readiness, diagnostic test gives you a detailed analysis showing your score per area of course and a detailed rationale of why answers are right or wrong.
the inclass version includes the book, Qbank of 1100 questions, and Question Trainers 1-7 which well trains you on test taking and stamina to take up to 265 questions. The inclass is the best as it forces you to show up and there's a an real live expert for you to ask questions, i haven't taken the nclex yet but so far I felt that I learned how to answer higher level questions "tricky" ones from the course. For content review i used saunders and my textbooks but for strategies its kaplan. The bookstore's version of the book teaches you some of it but its not as complete as taking the course itself.
If you know the content then its test taking strategies. Every time you get a question wrong ask yourself why? dont just read the rationales.
Weak Content: if you didn't know something about the topic, labs, drugs. Special precautions, then you need to read rationale then look up the topic either in saunders or your textbook and really understand it. If its lab vaules then memorize it you can't answer the question if you haven't a clue what the values mean. Drugs: understand how the category works, what does it do, why are you giving this drug, and most common side effects. and ah memorize a few commonly used drugs. Do not try to memorize all of drug names its impossible.
Weak Testing Skills: if you didn't know what the question was asking, how to answer it, prioritized wrong or completely misunderstood the whole question. Fix by using a review course that really focuses on testing technique or on your own.
Also do only a max of 150 questions per day your brain gets tired and you need time to review all of the questions you did too. And must have daily rest and relax time and the last 2 days before exam = no no studying allowed just fun must recharge brain for big day. Studying location go somewhere where its quiet and you will not be distubed: or go library and turn off your email, cell etc for 1.5-2 hr blocks of time.
Confidence booster:
1.) Take a sheet of white paper
2.) Write your name (First Middle, Last)
3.) Write R.N after your name.
put this where you can see it every day while studying. GOOD LUCK!!!
i took kaplan nclex online review . it was good and i did all questions in it but now that is expired and my economic status doesnt allow me to spend more money again . thank you .
