Hello, I am having a time with studying. When I study for previous classes(before Nursing School), the format worked well. But at Nursing school, my format is not working. I try to read the chapters, go back with the study guide and then go back again and take notes on what i have read. Can anyone please give me any tips on studying that helped you?

Well for me, seating there reading reading and reading wasn't good for me, I had to visualize it, or even act out. Not to be weird, but I learned that talking to myself was a big help. Now you will notice that the majority of things you will cover in nursing school are everyday life, apply it. Also try not to just memorize things, our minds are sponges and we hold info when we aren't even trying to remember. For example:You read a article about a serious new disease, which was about 3 weeks ago (just because you wanted to) now, if someone in passing or even in a coversation brings that disease up, you will be able to talk about it also, and provide detailed information from what you know.
So just read like you would read a great story, and dont try to cover the answer and remember it just reallly get into it and picture it and talk to yourself while you read it, and come test day you got it all there.
Hope I helped:)

Nclex book worked for me. I agree try not to memorize (too much stuff). If it were your mother/child with that certain disease.....you could remember the important stuff...Right. So now your family has a lot of illness/problems!! I associate w/something that will jogg my memory........
(my ex son in law=socpath.= I see a clear picture of what it is) Works for me hope this helps you! :)

I am not sure if I can be a big help, but I can tell you what not to do. I use to cram everything into 1 or 2 days. Bad mistake. I seem to have weeks right now that I have 2-3 tests , and it is freaking me out. I actually had chest pain last night over an upcoming peds test. We both need to learn to relax.
