Hi everyone!
Just looking for some advice. I moved into nursing professional development (hospital educator) 3.5 yrs ago after spending almost 10 years at the bedside in ICU (every adult kind) and ER. I am moving to be with my boyfriend and applied for an educator role there, but I have a feeling I may have not got the position. So I have also applied for bedside jobs in several of the organizations ICUs (surgical, burn-which was my favorite bedside gig, and pediatrics because I love peds but have never worked in a PICU). I have kept up with changes and jumped in to help at the bedside as an educator since I have been in this role (ICU educator). I also like to note I have RA. So, does anyone have any tips for someone going back? I am a little more worried about going back to 12s than learning changes...I will have to learn a whole new set of policies etc being in a new state and organization anyway.
Also, Id like to add Im not interested at moving into other non-bedside roles like case management or a manager. That has never appealed to me. I don't want to wait for the possibility of another educator role opening up because who knows how long thatll be and Im so ready to not be long distance anymore ?
Thanks everyone! ?

It would be nice if the length of your orientation were flexible, especially if you go into a new area. I'm guessing it will be fairly easy for you to transition back, though. It seems relatively common for people to take a few years off, often for family reasons. And you haven't even been "off".
