I Love My Crocs!!

Nurses Uniform/Gear

:p

I know we've discussed shoes here a number of times; I've been a die-hard New Balance fan for years now, and I still love them. But last weekend I discovered Crocs, at the local Hallmark store of all places........sure, they're butt-ugly, but when I tried on a pair, it was like stepping into Heaven! They weigh absolutely nothing, are simple even for an 'ample' girl like me to put on (no bending over to tie shoes!), have those little nubby 'massaging' things on the bottoms, are antimicrobial and easy to clean---what else could a hardworking med/surg nurse want?

So I worked my first shift in them today, and for the first time in I don't know how long, my back doesn't ache tonight, and I may even be able to sleep without taking pain medication for my poor overworked feet and legs. I bought a pair in white, but I like them so well I may go back and get several more pairs in different colors........Why did it take me so long to try these darned things? I'd heard of them, checked them out online once, and even asked a couple of co-workers what they thought of theirs, but I was so comfortable in the NB shoes that I didn't want to experiment. I've always had a hard time finding shoes that both fit properly and don't cost an arm and a leg; the Crocs were $30, and I figure if I buy another pair and switch them every couple of shifts, it'll cost me only as much as one good pair of sneakers, and they'll last longer. What a deal, huh?

Been reading over many of the posts here regarding croc shoes.

I bought mine (original) at the University of Miami book store and began wearing them immediately. Definately loved them!!!

I too have experienced "Croc Stops". The way I run around my unit, I sometimes experience sore ankles. Overall I do love them.

Another reason to consider crocs.

After I left work last night, I went by taxi in the morning 'cause my car was dead. Got to work on time..$30.00 later I am at work. End of the day I called for taxi service to get home where I was going to call AAA. Taxi service was backed up since it was Friday. After one hour waiting, got on Metrorail and got off at the South Miami metrorail stattion. Called for a taxi again..again..busy Friday night.

By telephone I got blown off by some drivers who wanted longer transportation fares.

(ever so politely though)

Total nine calls to request cab. 4 returned calls by drivers, 3 claimed they couldn't find me..the giant woman ( with an Eric Cartman head ) with a flashing red dog bone (Pet Smart) attached to my ID with my Parking card. Somehow I was invisible.

Well, here is the CROCS part of the story.

I was wearing my Crocs, carrying two bags, one a book bag..the usual junk and necessary items, the other bag held all my "tools of our trade". Super heavy load!

I thought, o.k. I should challenge these shoes...

I started walking home from the metrorail station in South Miami, aproximately 12 + miles to my house. I walked and walked and walked and walked and walked, in my CROCKS. By this time it was 11 pm. I took at break at a Dairy Queen which was on my way home, I know the owners. They were closing, but took pity on me..I was soaked with sweat.

I sat inside the lobby and ate a peanut buster parfait and talked with the owner and teenage employees for about 45 minutes.

I was so proud of myself until I thought of those world wide who did this type of thing daily. Barefoot and hungry, suffering all of the bad things and hardships that people in so many places all over the world suffer. I had nothing to complain about.

I got home! by 0130hrs. Called AAA and was told to call back Saturday morning.

End of story..except it was my Crocs that made this journey easier. I was sweaty, my feet weren't.

No sudden croc stops, no twisted ankles or torn toenails..just walking home in my crocs.

How that for a testimony?????????????????????????????

Today I am sore, feet swelled with some ankle pain, iced them down, ate Naprosyn and am still happy with these crocs. Wow, 12 + miles. Does anyone know if there is a croc record for non stop distance? Let me Know.

Thanks, Eeka End Game

In a prior post I wrote that I usually run around my unit (assigned rooms) bare foot in socks. Since crocs, I actually keep them on all day.
