I don't know if I'm smart enough for nursing

Published

Hi everyone, first of all I'm new here :w00t:Hi:)

I'm so glad there is a website designed specifically for people in the nursing field, I think you guys will help me alot, as I have been coming here to read some of other people's questions, everyone seems very helpful.

Anyway, I think everyone needs to know a little about myself: I am almost 23 years old and I have been coming to this community college for nearly 5 years! 5 YEARS!

Ever since I can remember, I've always wanted to be in the medical field, when I was like 5 years old I had a toy stethescope and I would always say I wanted to become a doctor.

I graduated High School and came straight to college, still in mind that I wanted to be in the medical field. Well, I didn't take classes so seriously my first semesters and for some reason I would always say I was "undecided" but I was just afraid to finally make a big life changing decision since I was still young. Well now that I'm older and more mature, I can finally say I WANT TO BE A NURSE! This is my last semester doing my pre-reqs and because I have spent so much time here and messed around my first semesters, my GPA is not so great and now I regret it because I start applying in a couple of months to nursing programs and I'm afraid I'm not going to be accepted :uhoh21:

So yesterday I had a physiology lab midterm and I studied so hard, and it turns out I got a 57/70 I have a B in that class and I cannot raise it up to an A. Yesterday and today I've been doing a lot of crying becuase I'm starting to think I'm not smart enough:cry: Especially because my parents don't really believe in me (because I've been stuck in this community college for 5 years)

My GPA is a 3.2 as of right now that's why I want to raise my grades- to raise up my GPA

I volunteer at a hospital

I will be starting CNA class next month

I need advice. Do you guys think I can make it?

I regret messing up in the beginning! :(

I think you are doing everything right! 3.2 is not bad, its a B+ average. True some schools only accept 4.0s, but you are on the right track by getting your CNA first. That will make your application stand out. You can definitly get into a nursing school somewhere.

Plus, grades mean nothing about intelligence (imo). Grades are all about determination.

I know what you mean. I've been at my community college for 4 1/2 years and I honestly feel like I'm stuck because everyone that I know is graduating or already graduating and I feel so left behind. My reason for still being in my current school because I had financial issues with my fafsa and I wasn't able to attend school because I had no money. I know this post is from 5 years ago but I hope that you are doing well:)

CNA will give you great experience to see and experience and learn.
