I don't know what to do...im going for RN

Published

Hi everyone,

Im a student in a community college trying to become an RN. Basicaly so far I have persued most general pre reqs required such as anatomy, physiology, micro... Im trying to get into a RN program immediatley and don't know what to do at this point.

I don't want to persue RN through colleges because of the wait reason. I hear lotterys may take long. Although I hear private schools take you on the spot. I know that there is a cost variation between the two but im willing to pay for that. I also hear that there is a lvn-RN bridge programs in some private schools but then that would mean I have to take all the courses again which I struggled to do so and definatly avoiding.

My problem is simply my grades are all "C" s. I don't meet the cirteria for most colleges which is why im stuck with only private schools.

Is there any private schools out there excluding online that require you to have pre reqs completed only in order to get in or do you have to have an LVN liscence and then the pre reqs....im just trying to find the easy way out without getting that darn LVN lisence.

What should I do?

try a private! you still need to test the NET, plus the college admitance test and go to the poll, interview, beat some people and you are in!

Can you retake some courses to improve your GPA (and knowledge)? If you're struggling w/the pre-req courses, I imagine the actual nursing school courses will be very challenging. Maybe taking some over (A&P I & II, for example) will help your chances of acceptance AND succeeding once you get in?

I am having trouble understanding what your asking. If I am right you want an RN, but you do not want the wait of an ADN program, and your grades are all C's so your not competitive. You want to know if there are private colleges which will let you in based on having completed pre reqs, and not GPA which also lets you pursue your RN without having an LVN.

Is that correct?

If so I have been told that private schools ARE easier to get into, but like you said are way more expensive. There are NO online schools would allow you get get a LVN or RN. Those are only for nurses who are already licensed who are wanting a more advanced degree. I personally have only seen private LVN schools, but there may be private RN's out there.

My advice as the above poster said is to start retaking some of those c's to impove your GPA. Decide which school you want to go to, and find out what classes they base acceptance on and take those first. There is so much competition that you are just not going to get far with C's. I have mostly all A, and I got rejected my first application because I didn't have the three points from applying before, and I made an 85 on my entrance exam. I mean it is very competitive. I don't mean to scare you, but you need to know. Now go fix those C's.
