I'm a second degree student and am applying to programs to start next fall. I know that eventually no matter what I want a BSN, but financially I don't think I can afford the BSN programs in my area (they're in the $30K+ range) and even if I could, it would mean adding a TON of debt to my existing school debt.
The local ADN program would be cheap enough to pay for out of pocket, and would also give me class space to take some more science classes and to also participate in a lab research training program, both of which I'm interested in doing. I can do an RN-BSN bridge after I graduate and start working. I'd be able to complete the entire 2 year program for $7,000.
But every time I think I'm settled and feeling good about doing the ADN program, part of me starts thinking that it isn't right, that I should just go right for the BSN since it would mean less time to finish and less time overall since I wouldn't have anyting to complete after I pass the NCLEX.
The silly thing about all of this is that I'm putting the cart before the horse- I'm still applying, haven't been accepted anywhere yet and won't know if I've been accepted until Feb/March.
