I just want to SCREAM!!

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

I am simply just venting. I CANNOT begin to understand how and why a bunch of grown women who are in nursing school can sit and giggle at medical terms such as: flatulance, feces, defecation, etc. Or sit in class and gag & carry on like a bunch of children talking about "poop". I realize that you have to find humor in things, but seriously?? I take my lectures seriously and it is soooooooo extremely annoying! There are a couple of students in the class that make a big deal out of ANY kind of body substance, "That's so GROSS!" "EEEEWWWW!" blah blah blah

I just want to say, "Seriously....grow up, if EVERYTHING grosses you out that bad, then you seriously need to consider persuing another career."

I can't imagine how a pt. would feel if their nurse started gagging and wretching over something they couldn't help.

Granted, we all have things that turn our stomachs. Mine is rotting flesh and that's just about it, but I've dealt with it before and can deal with it again!!

If they are not carrying on about how gross something is, then they are laughing about it. I'm thinking... Have you never had diarrhea? Have you never heard/seen infection in urine?

No offense to anyone, but I personally believe that you should be required to work as a CNA for at least 2 years before being accepted into a program. Several of the students in my class just got their CNA last semester. I've had mine going on 11 years, but even at 17 y/o when I first started, I didn't act like THAT!!!

I just want to add that the only reason this aggravates me as much as it does is because it is disruptive during lecture. Bless our instructors heart, she is very laid back and soft spoken so she just ignores it and moves on, but she could finish her lectures a whole lot sooner if people weren't unnecessarily interrupting.

Is this some sort of attention seeking thing? It seems like the same ones that do it are often very outspoken in class and seem like they want to be in the spotlight. It's easy to ignore at other times, but not during lecture!

I know what u mean. I have the same problem in my class! We started 8-16-11 and let me tell u the women in my class r so rude and loud! I dont know how they learn anything... I leave there and feel like screaming as well. I dont know how they do it(instructors)! I pay my money and should be able to be in lecture and not here EWWW and Grosss fifty thousand times! Really u r going to b a nurse! Anyway I hope all is well with u and your studies!!

Yes, we are in our first semester and started 8-16 as well. Sorry you're dealing with the same thing. I feel for these people's pt.s if they don't get over whatever their problem is and actually make it through. Can you imagine?? You can tell by the look on someone's face if they are grossed out!

My dad has a colonoscopy done a couple months ago. When he woke up in recovery, he said that he couldn't help it, but he was so bloated and couldn't stop passing gas. Obviously it was from the procedure but he said he felt very embarressed because he couldn't control it and a couple of his nurses were standing on the other side of the curtain laughing. It made me so mad, I wishes I had been there to tell them to grow up. I just don't understand what is sooooo funny about it!!
