  1. Hopefully the instructor will realize that it was THEIR mistake when they are grading the tests and everyone has 2million mL as the answer!
  2. That is what we were all saying! They told us there would not be ANY problems that were unrealistic. I saved this one problem for last and spent 30 minutes working on it (converting both ways) and reworking it.
  3. I did write that wrong in the first post. Sorry! I'm scatter brained right now cuz I'm very anxious to see what my grade is and if I passed the class.
  4. It was written just like this on the test: 0.1 mcg in 100 mL; give 25mg/hr (and we were to solve for mL/hr) Our class has a private FB page so I was planning to let them all know. Apparently half the class was hung up on this 1 single question.
  5. Just took my final for Pharmacology. There was a question on there that stumped everyone I talked to. Order: 0.1mcg in 100mL Stock: 25mg/hr We were told that we would not have any drug calculations on test that were not realistic. The answer that I got for this (along with other students I spoke to) was 2,500,000 mL/hr. Obviously it doesn't matter NOW, because the final is over but it is just eating at me!!!
  6. Yes, we are in our first semester and started 8-16 as well. Sorry you're dealing with the same thing. I feel for these people's pt.s if they don't get over whatever their problem is and actually make it through. Can you imagine?? You can tell by the look on someone's face if they are grossed out! My dad has a colonoscopy done a couple months ago. When he woke up in recovery, he said that he couldn't help it, but he was so bloated and couldn't stop passing gas. Obviously it was from the procedure but he said he felt very embarressed because he couldn't control it and a couple of his nurses were standing on the other side of the curtain laughing. It made me so mad, I wishes I had been there to tell them to grow up. I just don't understand what is sooooo funny about it!!
  7. I just want to add that the only reason this aggravates me as much as it does is because it is disruptive during lecture. Bless our instructors heart, she is very laid back and soft spoken so she just ignores it and moves on, but she could finish her lectures a whole lot sooner if people weren't unnecessarily interrupting. Is this some sort of attention seeking thing? It seems like the same ones that do it are often very outspoken in class and seem like they want to be in the spotlight. It's easy to ignore at other times, but not during lecture!
  8. I am simply just venting. I CANNOT begin to understand how and why a bunch of grown women who are in nursing school can sit and giggle at medical terms such as: flatulance, feces, defecation, etc. Or sit in class and gag & carry on like a bunch of children talking about "poop". I realize that you have to find humor in things, but seriously?? I take my lectures seriously and it is soooooooo extremely annoying! There are a couple of students in the class that make a big deal out of ANY kind of body substance, "That's so GROSS!" "EEEEWWWW!" blah blah blah I just want to say, "Seriously....grow up, if EVERYTHING grosses you out that bad, then you seriously need to consider persuing another career." I can't imagine how a pt. would feel if their nurse started gagging and wretching over something they couldn't help. Granted, we all have things that turn our stomachs. Mine is rotting flesh and that's just about it, but I've dealt with it before and can deal with it again!! If they are not carrying on about how gross something is, then they are laughing about it. I'm thinking... Have you never had diarrhea? Have you never heard/seen infection in urine? No offense to anyone, but I personally believe that you should be required to work as a CNA for at least 2 years before being accepted into a program. Several of the students in my class just got their CNA last semester. I've had mine going on 11 years, but even at 17 y/o when I first started, I didn't act like THAT!!!
  9. I am in my first semester of LPN school and apparently there is a word for the backstabbing, gossiping, busy bodies who must not be at all overwhelmed with schoolwork and family time since they still find time to be bothersome to others. I brought this to my professors attention b/c I was being affected personally by what was going on around me even though I chose to keep my mouth shut. Apparently, since the Ringleader has had the professor before and he already knows her, when he confronted her with my accusations, she turned it around on me and said I am the one who is causing problems. This has greatly affected my life in more ways than just my school work and I have found myself dreading even going to class for not knowing what will happen next. I think this is an issue that needs to be addressed and handled within the school setting before the nurses graduate. There are 23 students in our class and we were told that even though they have a 100% pass rate on INCLEX, there are usually only half the students left in the 3rd semester that arrived in the first. I'm wondering if this could partially be attributed to HV within the classroom and clinical setting. I really do believe this could be a contributing factor to the students who flunk out before 3rd semester. Maybe some sort of.... "Only the strong survive" or in my case, the ones who are able to manipulate the teachers the best....???
