I hope it's okay to post this here. I'm a Nursing Assistant but I'm actually hoping to become a Dental Hygienist. (I thought I wanted to become a nurse but have found that I have become really passionate about the dental hygiene field.)
There are only three schools that I can apply to that offer dental hygiene around my area. Two out of the three are already in the process of making admission decisions so it's already too late to apply. I'm in the process of applying to the other one, but they've made it clear that it's very competitive to get into and they already have a wait list. So, it's very very doubtful that I won't get in for Fall 2008 .... and they only offer the dental hygiene programs in the Fall. Oh, and I should also mention that one accepts 20 students.....the other two accept 30.
Anyway, I'm going to be re-applying to all 3 schools this fall to HOPEFULLY get in for Fall 2009. I'm just getting very worried and discouraged that it's going to take me years just to get IN to the program. I'm sure all you pre-nursing students can relate.
It's just so discouraging that you KNOW what you want to do, but sometimes it just takes so long to get there.
Anyone else feel this way?? And thanks for letting me rant!!
