I hated being a CNA.....

Published

Hi

so I wanted to know if there is anyone out there that hated being a CNA prior to becoming a nurse. I want to become a nurse, I am actually in the midst of apply to a few RN programs. I got certified as a CNA and got my first CNA job in a nursing home and I absolutely hated being their. I did not hate the patients obviously but I hated what the job entitled.

I feel bad because if I hate, this will I hate nursing? Ive been around nurses for a while and I would love to do what they do. But now I feel guilty because I hated being a CNA. It kind of scares me.

have any of you hated being a CNA before you became a nurse?

I hate being a CNA. I feel like Im being suck'd everytime I go to work. CNA's are under paid and over worked and no one cares as long as the job gets done. There are also other CNA that try to steal your hours and complain about you for no reason. I am not a new CNA I been a CNA for 10yrs I know right to dang long. I need to do something else because always trying to work 2 job just to make it becoming unbareable.

Specializes in Adult Cardiac ICU.

@alwaysklassy,

Geriatrics is not for everybody but you should realize that you are in a temporary situation. Hopefully you do well and succeed in nursing school. Then, you will be able to find a specialty better suited for you. In the meantime, have compassion for the people who are relying on you for their care. I began as a CNA at a hospice when I was 18. Trust me when I say it's much different than an assisted living facility. I still love helping my patients.

In truth, I don't think any field of nursing is going to be as ideal or glamorous as one may envision..
