So today I get a phone call from Pearson Vue saying that I need to go online and reschedule all of my upcoming tests because the test site I was going to take them at (Melbourne, FL) is now closed and not reopening. I had a test in one week from today and two weeks from today. I have checked the coast of Florida for the next month and the closest place I can go is over 100 miles away... wish I had a little notice! I am not lucky with cancellations, either :-(
Make sure you guys check too so you don't get any fabulous Pearson surprises.
I wish we were just able to take tests with a proctor sometimes instead. It would make life so much easier.

Wow, and I thought I had it bad, I have to travel 60 miles! I wish we could do Proctor tests too, I live just 15 min away from the University of Arkansas. That seems like it could be a perfectly logical place to take an Excelsior test. Oh well, at least I can take some of my prereq courses there and also CLEP tests. That will save me a few trips. The worst part about the 60 mile trips though is that my husband has to take off work everytime and come with me because I have no other babysitter for my kids (2.5 years and 7 months old) and the kids have to come because my youngest is still breastfeeding every 2-3 hours! This is going to be fun!
I know, that's why I am so upset. They gave me a weeks notice! I have already made childcare arrangements. It's only for this month, but I was soo ready for my test next week and now I don't know if I'll be able to take it this month. It's my last nursing exam and I am ready to be DONE!

That's super interesting my Pearson just opened up a ton of spots here in California. I always found it interesting that the place was half empty a lot of the time but "booked." Sometimes I had morning appointments but called and they would let me come in in the afternoon so I didn't loose my fee.
They just opened up a bunch here too, but they're booked. I called the administrator at the local Pearson for me which is showing up as completely booked for this month and begged her to squeeze me in next week. She is going to call me back tomorrow. She said the reason why it is difficult to get a time for the Excelsior tests is that it blocks out a three hour window. For instance, she told me the day I want to test she has an 11:00AM opening, but it won't show up on my scheduler because there is someone coming in at 1:30pm.
I hope she lets you have that 11:00am test. I know it normally doesn't take me anywhere near the three hours to get my test completed. I'm usually in and out in less than 2 hours, even with all the ridiculous amounts of ID verification and what not.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
