Feeling very frustrated from today's conversation below:
Me: Dr. E, here's a copy of my resume and i hope i could get considered for an NP position in your clinic in a year or so. I really love working here.
MD: Well you know, we don't just treat colds and flu here!
Me: (really didn't expect this kind of response so i replied without thinking) I understand I need experience.
At that point, i was already hurt from the MD's response. NPs don't just treat colds and flus!
Just venting. I figured working in that clinic won't make me ahppy anyway... Who want's to work at a place where MDs think all u do is treat colds and flu everyday?
Thank you for reading but do u think i'm misunderstanding something in our conversation?

Does this doctor have a nurse practitioner in his office now? I think some Doctors really just misunderstand what we can do because they have never worked with us rather than them just being jerks because we didn't go to med school.
Make sure your resume reflects that we also manage chronic diseases and provide health promotion services to whatever ages you're going to be certified for.

Thank you, Anh! I appreciate your reply. The medical group has two nurse practitioners in the office. So i don't know if that was a joke or was just a personal comment specific to me. But anyway, you have a good advice. I also feel better now as I have realized that i do not wanna work for an environment that does not support new NPs. The job hunt continues... :)
