I Did It! I Did It!

I am soooo proud of myself! I am a new LPN of 2 weeks and have been working hospice crisis care cases so far. I got a call to work a unit at a local hospice facility......scared silly I accepted the job. I have heard nightmare stories of being agency and working as a new nurse so needless to say my confidence was shaken!

I arrived at the facility and took my place among other wonderful nurses who reassured me that no matter what they would be there for me if things got rough. I am proud to say I held my own among these seasoned ladies. From assessments to injections even sub q buttons....I done it all! My shift was nearing end which was another new thing for me working only 8 hours in a day!!! I gave my report in detail and was leaving the facility when the charge nurse yelled for me to stop. She told me I was very impressive and asked if I would like to be put on the request list for return. I of course said yes and that ended my first day alone with an 8 person patient roster.

I know there are going to be other facilities where this type of kindness and help are not going to come. In this case my confidence has been dealt a boost and I feel less pressure about did I learn enough to now it's what new can I learn today!!!
