in fluid and electrolytes you have hyper and hypo imbalances of water and electrolytes.
may be a stupid question but what is being tested? the intracellular space or the extracellular space?
if i had to guess i would say that hyper/hypo volemia measures the volume outside the cell and hyper/hypo electrolytes measures inside the cell...
can anyone help me?

Hyper/hypo volemia refers to the intravascular space.
Hyper/hypo electrolytes, as in hyponatremia, refers to the amount of the electrolyte in the blood.

Just remember all the hypers and hypos are measured in the blood (serum). Example, hypervolemia means an increase in blood volume. Hypernatremia means an increase in sodium in the blood.
