Hutchinson Community College - LPN to RN hybrid

Updated:   Published

Can someone give me feedback. With this program? I am thinking of applying over the Summer. We're you able to work? How flexible was traveling there for clinicals etc. Also would we take NCLEX in their state if we complete the program?
many feedback would be appreciated.

They did when I was in the program. The only caveat is that if there isn't a site that has already been approved by the school, then it does take a lot of work on your end to get the approval. Also clinicals can't be done in your home state until the final semester.

Hi, I am awaiting to apply to the LPN to RN online Hybrid Program this week. Is there anyone who have completed this course her at HCC, recently who can give me feedback about their program in general?

I completed the program 4 yrs ago so things may have changed. All course work is done online. Clinicals are primarily done in Kansas. You will have to travel to KS approx 6-8 times throughout the year. Class starts in January and graduation is in December. You will have to travel and be in KS for 1 week before class starts for orientation and classroom clinicals. You'll know when your clinical schedule is at the beginning of each semester so you can plan to travel.

I worked full-time while I was in the program and it's completely doable as long as you have a somewhat flexible schedule and can have time off for travel.

I absolutely loved the program and can't say enough good things about it.

Good Luck

I just submitted my application last night! Hopefully we will both be accepted.

I am still waiting for my employer to fill out my 1000 hours work verification form, so I can officially submit my application by 8/1. Iam a bit nervous, however, knowing that there are hundreds of applicants applying.

What is your score from the rubric if you don't mind me asking?

Mine is 37.5.

I just submitted my application. I have not gotten to this point yet. My assumption is, that my rubric will be on the higher side. I have 6 A's and 2 C's for my perquisites. I am disappointed in my TEAS score (62%). The study materials that I used that was, I feel over hyped, did not help/prepare me for the ATI TEAS test.

I plan on applying to a private school (43,000 tuition) I just found in my state (California), yesterday as well. The deadline for them is September 16. There program is 11 months. 2 days of classroom instruction for 8 hours and 1 full day of clinical hours= 3 days a week. I just do not like the idea of having to take out such a large loan, even though this amount has been by far the cheapest private school, in California, in my local areas, that I have found. The average cost for private schools in California, in local areas is between, 60,000-145,000 for LVN to RN. The LVN to bachelor's program run on an average of 120,000-145,000. It is absurd for these schools to charge so much. These figures are med school figures. However, because it is more challenging to get into a community college (taking years to get into, due to the number of applicants/competition) these options seem more realistic.

OK thanks.

Yeah, trying hard to avoid those insanely expensive private schools.

@Taren What the name of the private school? I'm also in California!

The name of the school is SJVC. There is one in Ontario, Ca and Visalia California. The LVN to RN Bridge program requires ATI Fundamentals with a minimum passing of 65%. No TEAS are required for this particular program.

You can purchase the book from Amazon. I am currently reviewing the ATI book. My test is scheduled to be taking next week.
