Husband and Wife travel RN's?

Hello,

Long time reader (over 6yrs) , and first time poster here. My husband and I went back to school for a second career and now we both have right at 2 years experience as nurses. Our main goal was to get enough experience to travel after our last child leaves. Yay! We have always wanted to get into the "travel" aspect of nursing and we started reading the posts on allnurses when we were considering nursing and have loved just about everything this site has offered.

A little background info:

My husband has his experience in ICU and I have mine in Peds, Postpartum, GYN surgeries and MS (my floor is very diverse) our certs include: ACLS (both), PALS, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E. We have religiously read thru the posts about travel nursing and we are getting everything organized and putting a plan into action so we can start, hopefully, in January. We have no mortgage and have already liquidated all and are ready to be mobile! Very excited and nervous, and we just want to see what the U.S. has to offer without going broke!

I have ALOT of questions but I will start with these for now:

1. Are there any husband/wife? or partner teams out there doing fairly decent?

2. Are we asking too much, in the way of multiple jobs in the same city or hospital?

3. Any suggestions on companies for teams?

4. Tax home vs Transient worker?

Thank you, Any and All help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

What states are you guys licensed in? I'm a soon to be new traveler....L&D....and I'm just starting the process of taking an assignment hopefully!! I would love to travel with a group of nurses.....I wonder if its hard to do that??

You guys should have no problem finding ICU and PEDs openings happening at the same time in the same hospital or city. Every husband/wife team Ive met does very well. One of them has the company provide housing, the other takes a stipend.. Ive also met a bunch that travel via RV or 5th wheel. Id imagine those are the ones that make the most $$.

We are both licensed in Alaska, California, Oklahoma, and are currently trying to decide if we want to "move" to South Dakota for the tax and compact license benefits. We have also considered a motorcoach for living, but we want to try traveling for a year first.

We have been talking to Trustaff and American Mobile tentatively, mainly due to the fact that we want to take an assignment in the USVI. There is so much information out there regarding companies and contracts, that it gets very confusing and we don't want to tie ourselves to one company. From what I've read, its better to have multiple options.

My main concern is that one of us will be offered a position and the other won't. But if that happens I just figured we could alternate extended vacations. LOL

Thanks again,
