Hello i just wanted to know if anyone has done the entrance exam at humber and what book did you use to study from? I've been out of school for quite sometime and i'm not really sure what i need to focus on and what book i should study from or what the format of the test is. Please help!!!

I know this reply is extremely late but maybe it'll help someone else who is looking for advice. The book I used was called Health Occupational Entrance Exam (2013) - there is a newer version but I found this sufficient.

Here is an online PDF - instead of wasting $30!

The test isn't too bad.

30 questions on Biology (some bone questions, ATP etc)

30 questions on Chemistry (grade 9 stuff - what is a solution) NO MATH ON CHEMISTRY.

41 questions on Math (adding, subtracting, conversions, decimal points)

Written essay; this consisted of writing 300-600 word multi-paragraph. They give you a topic and you just state your opinion with examples.

I did the online option for the test - you are on webcam with a person!

I got my results back fairly quick - I did the test on a Saturday and got my offers of admission the following Tuesday.

I just got an offer from Humber RPN! But I have an HOAE sched at Sheridan this month. Not sure if I should still take the Sheridan’s exam or go ahead with Humber. I particularly like the Sheridan’s fast track program and it’s a little closer to me but I’ve heard great things about Humber.

Any thoughts on Humber vs Sheridan? Thanks!

I’ve personally never been to the Sheridan program but I’ve heard mixed reviews.

you mentioned the fast track program, how much time would that shave off?

I’m currently in the Humber program and I love the professors. Everyone is extremely helpful.

I live in Brampton but the drive to Humber isn’t that bad

That’s what I noticed too. The Humber reps at the college fair were so friendly and encouraging when answering questions.

Sheridan offers the 4 semesters back to back so students can finish it in 16months.

By the way, can you give an idea on Humber’s first year timetable? Can you afford to work part time while at school?

Thanks!

First semester we had to pick a “block schedule”. We usually had Mondays off and the rest we had class.

I work part time (24 hours a week). It’s definitely due-able, however, you will need to be strict about studying and time management!

Thanks so much for the replies. Can you tell me which books you’re using? I would like to do some advance reading before classes begin.
