Hi Everyone, this is my first post here but I have been lurking for some time.
I've heard from other students and his reviews on "Rate my Professor" that a certain professor's class is super tough, but if you are a diligent student you also learn a lot.
I'm taking him this fall because his class was the only that had seats available that I could fit into my schedule. I have some concerns. On one hand I'm happy that I may start to understand the content on a deep level , but on the other hand I'm worried that I'll end up getting a B or worse in the class despite my effort. I currently have a 4.0 GPA and although I know I won't be able to hold this forever, I want to keep it as long as I can. Also, nursing programs in this area seem to be super competitive and I want to assure I have the best grade possible to get into one.
I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this professor, or are planning on taking his class this spring. What do you guys recommend I start studying so that I can get a head start?

I recently completed a challenging Human A&P 1 and 2. It felt like I was taking 3 classes in one because of the massive amount of material to learn. I was fortunate enough to have one of the respiratory therapy instructors to tell me "if you want an A in Human A&P, take these courses all by themselves." I tell ya...he was right. I got an A, but I really had to work at it. I couldn't imagine taking other classes with Human A&P. I noticed that the people who were taking other classes were making Cs and Bs, and they were complaining of the workload involved.
With all that said, you're going to have your work cut out for you whether you have a difficult teacher or not. Look at it this way: you have a 4.0 going into this class. Therfore, your chances of getting an A are great because you know how to study to get an A. Furthermore, you're going to be learning from a teacher that challenges you. This will be pushing you to your limits to learn this subject which you will be using throughout your healthcare career. I'd just go for it and not worry about it. Study a section ahead of your teacher's lectures so that his new material will not be new to you.
As far as studying to get a head start, start studying the cell, the organelles in the cell, and their functions. Watch some youtube videos over and over on this topic. Good luck.

He definitely has some mixed reviews. I'd be scared of the labs, it sounds like he is very tricky using the bones of other animals when you've studied human bones and stuff like that. Good luck!
