HRSA recipient job hunting issues!

Nurses New Nurse

Published

hello,

I just recently graduated from nursing school and passed my boards (YEAH).

I got the Nursing scholarship award in 2012 and have been job hunting since graduation. ok, here is the BIG problem:

there are no jobs that are tier 1 facilities anywhere near me (well there is one in the next state but it has no openings) and even the lower tier facilities are few and far between and aren't hiring either!

I'm at a loss as to what to do and am scared I will have to pay my scholarship back since I can't find any position. I can't just up and move to find a job, I have a disabled 19yr old daughter who lives with me and I take care of and right now she really needs to be here around family and her waiver services.

has anyone had this sort of problem? or is anyone having this sort of problem right now?

any help or input would be appreciated!

What is this award and how does it work?

Specializes in Critical Care, ED, Cath lab, CTPAC,Trauma.

Unfortunately, that it the flaw in the program. I suggest you contact the program and ask them.

Specializes in public health.

Are you able to move out of state?

it's the HRSA nursing scholarship program

I have and their responses to me (and one other recipient having the same issue) was basically sucks to be you!

not at this time, my 19yr old daughter is disabled is in my care and needs the stability and support from our family in the area and my parents health is poorly and I need to be here to help with them.... moving just isn't possible :(

That's insane. Are they that strict about the tier 1 thing? Because there is PLENTY in tier 2, tier 3 in California and health care providers are needed there too !!!
