Hrsa nurse loan repayment program 2015

Published

Hi all, I recently applied for the hrsa nurse loan repayment program, and am still waiting to hear back. I completely understand that many in the past began receiving notifications around this time. I am just curious to see if anyone else that has applied has received any offers for contract yet. Thanks to each in advance!

I have Great Lakes and NelNet for my loans. When I talked to the lenders and to a financial adviser, the advise was to pay 25,000 when money was received (you get interest for taxes 2015). Make next years payment in exactly 12 months again tax break. Payments are suspended for time it would have taken you to catch up. For example if your payments are $1000 a month and you pay 25,000 you will not owe another payment for 25 months. Hope this helps. I was notified on July 29th I was a finalist. Website says all money will be disbursed by Sept 30th.

Do you suggest loan consolidation? I have $125,000 in student loan debt.

Has anyone in the HPSA 16 range heard back yet?!

Depends on the interest rate your currently at and what your consolidation rate would be. My total is 97000. I have 6.8 percent on all loans. I was advised to leave them alone.

I applied for NHSC loan repayment and I had two sites with scores of 17 and 16. I received notification today that I was a finalist.

Got my finalist email on July 29 and my awardee email yesterday. Wahoo what a relief. HPSA score 17. Located in Kansas

Does anyone know how they calculate your debt to income ratio for consideration? And does anyone know someone at a HPSA of 13 or 15 that has been awarded?

From what I'm reading, is it advisable to take out more federal loans during school, so that my debt to income ratio is higher? And therefore I would have a higher chance of getting loan forgiveness when I apply?

Hi, I will be graduating this upcoming April. I am interested in knowing how thus program works? Does the government pay a lump sum or payments? Do I have to pay the interest or is that covered by the program ? Does the hospital or clinic take money out of your pay check or is it separate from the program? Etc.... any information would be greatly helpful.

I have read through the online information but it would he great to hear first hand.

Thank you!
