How does the waiting list work?

Published

Say if they had open spots for 60 students and I didn't get picked but I was number #5 on the wait list. Out of those 60 students, 5 would have to not enroll for me to get in?

I'm not on any wait list but I'm just wondering how it works.

Yes, 5 students would have to skip out or drop out. That happened to me when I first applied. I applied too late in the year as we had just found out we were moving to another city, and I was of course waitlisted. I was like #17 or something lol! I didnt end up getting in and had to re-apply to the program the following year. But I did still attend some classes at the university- got my psych, anatomy, and electives out of the way so it wasnt a total waste of time.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you! :) Thst does not sound unreasondable though, #5, that's a good spot to be at!!! Good luck!!:)

Different schools handle their waitlists differently. My school has rolling admissions, so I was wait listed before the original 60 spots were filled, then offered admission 2 weeks later...still before the 60 spots were filled.

Sounds like your school will offer admission to wait list applicant #5 once 5 people that have been accepted either decline acceptance or drop out before the program begins. #5 is a good spot to be. I've noticed that people applying to NS apply to at least 2 schools and some as many as 4 or 5. So if they get accepted into more than one school, they'll decline admissions to the other school. Good luck!

Ugh. I'm said I'm not on any wait list lol.

you have it...5th is a good place to be. some of the applicants might decide to go elsewhere or not make the final grades to get in. Good luck

At my college if you were 10 and under you had a pretty good chance of getting in. But yes, 5 people would have to drop out for you to get in. Keep your ears open..sometimes rumor is right and can give you a clue to just what # is good on the wait list.

When do you find out if you are on a waitlist? Or aren't you at that point yet.
