How To Pass Hesi Entrance Vocab?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I took the Hesi entrance exam back in October of this year. My school required me to take 5 parts (vocab, biology, reading comprehension, grammar, and math) with an 80% or above. Unfortunately I only passed bio and grammar. I found the vocab to be a bit hard though. I was using the recommended Admission Assessment Exam Review edition 3. They gave my words from the book like overt, transdermal,, prognosis, etc. The other words that were given to me were not in the book and I had absolutely no clue what the words meant so I got stuck guessing majority of them. They gave me words like contrite, succinct, postulate, etc. Can someone pls give me some advice on which words to study. They were so random. I want to go back between January and February, but I can only take it twice in a calendar year. I really want to pass so I can start in the fall of 2017. Im getting very impatient and so tired of wating. Ive been taking prerequisites since I graduated in 2013. Any advice on how to pass the other parts also?

it looks to me like you should talk with your school advisor and get set up with a tutor and remedial classes honestly. The words you say you have no clue what they mean should have been learned in high school, they aren't particularly difficult words. If you can't pass the basic competency exam that all college students should be able to pass you won't pass the nursing program, it's that simple. The reason they give you this kind of test is so they will know how likely it is that you will pass their courses and graduate. Your scores tell them you won't.

You will need more than a review book to pass the English requirements if these words confuse you, I'm just telling you the truth. You'll need a course and maybe a tutor too, to work on vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.
