How to prepare for nursing school??!

Published

Hello,

Nursing School acceptance letters will be mailed on Monday of next week. Hopefully, if I get in, I was wondering what can I do to get prepared for the first semester? What subjects should I do a quick overview on? A&P? Dosage Calculations? Pathophysiology?

Any Help?

Review A&P notes, medical terminology, dosage calculations............ Also for starters get a test for success book to get a perspective on test taking and nursing questions. Don't get so overwhelmed with to much studying before getting in, have fun, relax because once you're in it's totally different from prereqs. Good luck, I hope you get in!

Hey thanks so much! I actually just received my acceptance letter two days ago! Really excited and nervous but I'm going to trust in Hod and take you all's advice and try to relax as much as possible.

Thanks Maria,

I have a full time job too.

merry Christmas to you as well

Rest and relax, enjoy your family and friends. It's great that you are on that mindset already!!!

Physiology review will be helpful, know how a healthy body functions, because once you start school, its the disease process that you need to understand. However, nursing tests are not about what diseased is this? or what medication is this? Rather than, what clinical manifestation will a patient have with a lab value of this (...) that has this (...) Select ALL that apply!? What is the priority nursing intervention for this patient (long scenario that gives you useful and useless information)?

Good luck!!!

Wow thanks! I figured if would be more about rationales rather than memorizing definitions or where something is located and how it functions. A of this info has been very helpful!!
